Next Generation Gaming Consoles Are In Developement!

Well guys we have been hearing for a while in the about Nintendo’s new console successor to the Wii. It is also been given the name Project Cafe, we ourselves have done some overview in the past. Back then the release dates were not clear, well now Nintendo says it will be released on spring 2012.

Well, when the most selling console company is off the mark saying that they are bringing the next console; Well its rivals Microsoft and Sony also gave up some details of it.

Sony actually revealed the successor to the PlayStation 3 is currently in development at its company’s investor meeting .

Executive vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato was asked to explain the rising research and development costs for the company’s fiscal year. “In the game segment, we have the NGP to launch later this year. So we have development expenses to be incurred for this product,” he explained.

“For the home console, the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform when we will introduce the product I cannot discuss but development work is underway, so the costs are incurred there.”

Meanwhile, Microsoft began hiring for its “next generation console” this past March. No official words from Microsoft thought.

So people start gathering money in your ” Piggy Bank’s”, In E3 we might see some new consoles.

Sony Xperia Play

The concept of a PlayStation phone has been around for nearly as long as Sony has made PlayStations and Sony Ericsson has made phones, yet we wonder how successful the device will be in 2011. If you cast your mind back a few years, before the iOS App Store filled up with a variety of awesome gaming titles, you’ll be able to imagine a time when a PSP phone could have ruled the mobile world.

The Xperia Play is accomodating a slide-out PlayStation-style gamepad is always going to bulk up a smartphone, and at 16mm thick and weighing in at 175 grams, you’d hardly describe the Play as pint-sized. Up front you’ll find a 4-inch multi-touch touchscreen displaying Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with some light Sony Ericsson customisation, plus four physical navigation keys and the Play also sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back.

The innovation in the Play is design of its slide-out gaming pad. That it makes use of a direction pad and four PlayStation-esque action keys is no surprise, but the addition of two touch-sensitive finger pads is a genius stroke. At the Mobile World Congress, people  played a quick game of FIFA football at the Sony Ericsson stand. Which was really good from the feedback.

Which brings us to the games themselves. Sony Ericsson has announced that there will be 50 games optimised for the play available at launch, and that these games will be available on the Android Market after a short exclusivity period for owners of the Play. These titles will include a range of games from Gameloft including Assasin’s Creed, Dead Space and Guitar Hero confirmed, and 20 publishers agreeing to customise content for the Play.

If you have any concerns, that whether Sony Ericsson has created a future-proof gaming device. With a 1GHz processor, with dedicated graphics and 512MB RAM, the Play should be fine playing the games we see on Android on this time. Also, there’s no HDMI-out port on the Play as there is on the other phones in the Xperia family, which is a real let down for a gaming-focused device.

Sony Developing Hack Proof PS3

Sony is currently working on a ‘hack-proof’ PlayStation 3 as a counter-measure against recent piracy concerns, according to EverythingHQ.

An anonymous ‘insider’ source says, “Sony are already deep into plans of developing a hack-proof PS3 system. This is mainly due to the recent leaks of Killzone 3 which has worried Sony of their console becoming a mainstream threat to piracy.”

The new model PS3 will reportedly have the current slim design, a 300GB hard drive, an undisclosed anti-hacking system, and a mooted price point of £186.99/$300.

Current models of the PS3 could also see a price cut as Sony hopes to clear out the old hackable models from retailers to make way for the new console.

A release date has yet to be set for the new as-yet-unconfirmed model as Sony will be looking to resolve its court case against PS3 hacker George Hotz before making a final decision.

Sony’s New Portable Gaming Device NGP ( PSP2 )

Sony has just come out with its next-generation PlayStation Portable Gaming Device. It’s actually codenamed NGP and will revolve around five key concepts. With revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual Reality. It will be compatible with the PlayStation Suite and is backwards-compatible with downloadable PSP games and content from Sony’s PlayStation Store.

Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not the thumbtack kinda thing), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass, and cameras on both the front and back.

Games will come on “new media,” not UMD anymore, but we’re unclear on what sort of flash memory is being used. Sony’s rather proud of the fact it’s offering the world’s first dual analog stick combo on a portable device, though we’re more geeked about the quadrupling of pixel count from the original PSP.

Sony’s live event has been graced by demos of some pretty popular games, including Killzone, Resistance, Little Big Planet, and Uncharted even MGS4 by Hideo Kojima himself. And with the latter serving as a demo platform to show off how the NGP’s rear touchpad can be used to more intuitively climb up some vines. That touch panel on the back is the same size and positioned directly under the front OLED touchscreen, which allows for some pretty sophisticated controls when using the two simultaneously.

The new console’s UI will be called LiveArea, which has a bunch of vertically navigable home screens and built-in social networking through PlayStation Network. You can jump between games and the LiveArea without losing your progress and comment on your buddies’ great feats of mobile gaming.

The NGP pricing is not confirmed yet but one thing confirmed is that it not be $599. There will be two SKU’s an wifi only version and an 3G version.

Top 10 Games To Look Out For In 2011!

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

In the two previous games Naughty Dog focused on lush jungle and beautiful snow and really pulled it off. This time the element is the sands in Arabia. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is said to focus on the relationship between Sully and Drake as the pair search for a lost city in the Arabian Peninsula and across the Rub’ al Khali Desert. T.E Lawrence is said to be an inspiration for the story and setting. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s new features include the ability to fight hand-to-hand with multiple enemies as well as ‘enhanced backward climbing’ – though quite how that pans out remains to be seen. And also the previous game in this franchise has also won VGA Game of the year 2009.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 was confirmed for a Holiday 2011 release at Spike Video Game Awards awards. Set to take place on Earth, the game will see players traveling the universe attempting to rally the races of Citadel Space to take the human homeworld back and defeat the Reapers and their Collector army once and for all. The trailer alluded to rumors of a new multiplayer element for the series, which will likely take place amidst the human resistance’s battle with the Collector invasion force.Yet still we didn’t even recover from their masterpiece Mass Effect 2.

Dragon Age 2

At Gamescom Electronic Arts announced the release date for the sequel. You’ll be able to get your hands on Dragon Age 2 on March 8 in North America and March 11 in Europe. Dragon Age 2 features a tweaked art style and new combat system that should be friendlier for console controllers. It’s no secret that BioWare has made some drastic, and in my opinion positive, changes to Dragon Age 2 – faster attack animations, a distinctive art style, an adapted version of the Mass Effect conversation wheel plus a fully voiced main character. The updated combat is by far favorite, as it is found that the formerly sloth-like animations to be downright dull.

Resistance 3

There are a lot of PlayStation 3 exclusives coming out in 2011, and one of those titles that has gamers extremely interested is Resistance 3. For the third game, players will take control of Joseph Capelli, who was discharged from the service after the events of Resistance 2. For instance, Joseph Capelli is indeed Resistance 3′s main character. The blog post (written by Marcus Smith of Insomniac) reveals that Capelli, discharged from service since the events of Resistance 2, was hiding out with his wife Susan and son Jack in the middle of the United States, at a location called Haven, Oklahoma. The Chimera have won the worldwide conflict decisively, and Capelli’s journey across the United States towards New York City in Resistance 3 is a journey taken in order to try to take one last stand against complete Chimera domination. Any remaining vestiges of humanity are being systematically eliminated by what Smith coins as “roving death squads and drones,” and from the images in the story, hope seems to be non-existent. The game will ship on Sept. 6, 2011. Specific territories were not announced.

Witcher 2

Anyone who played CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher, a fantasy role-playing game, will find quite a few things different about the sequel, called Assassins of Kings. The timing-based combat system from before where you had to time button presses properly to pull off combo chains has been removed. The conversation system has been tweaked so it flows much more naturally. The game engine has been rewritten, which should make it feel like quite a different experience. This game, above almost all others coming this year, has the potential to surprise you with its depth, beauty and focus on true role-playing. Read on for our thoughts on why The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings should be on your most-wanted list.

Bethesda Software tonight announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at the Spike Video Game Awards show. Bethesda designer Todd Howard took the stage to announce the long-awaited title. Elder Scrolls V will be released on Nov. 11, 2011. Platforms were not announced. The teaser trailer shown referenced the ending to the fourth installment, Oblivion, likely confirming that it surfaced last month. Preview: Call Of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer

Everyone who plays Call of Duty knows, the series true identity is its multiplayer component. Were the single-player is barely ten hours of gameplay in the highest difficulty. Where as the multiplayer component sent an message to buy each title for to be spoiled by its ultimate glory. Call of Duty: Black Ops, much like Modern Warfare 2 before it, contains more multiplayer content than should be allowed by law. There are challenges, team deathmatches, and other famous modes of past CODs, and a little something new called Wager Matches. When I heard about wager matches only thing went up in my mind is “when did COD became an FPS game to an POKER game. Then treyarch proved me wrong.

Wager Matches allow you to bet your all-important COD Points (the game’s currency that’s awarded when you level up) on the upcoming match. If you finish in the top three of six participants, you’ll be “in the money.” Finish outside the top three and your buy-in (the money all players need to spend to start playing) goes bye-bye.

Fueling the new Wager Matches are some new multiplayer modes and Combat Training, a feature that allows you and a buddy to play against bots to sharpen your skills. Here’s a quick look at our favorite Wager Match modes and why they’re so damn cool.

One in the Chamber

Meaning: Much like it sounds, you have one bullet left in your semi-automatic pistol. If you’re lucky enough to shoot an enemy (anywhere), he’ll die instantly and you’ll get another bullet. Miss and you’re left with only a knife.

[sniplet postads]

Things we like: It’s a lot like Golden Gun from GoldenEye, but the tension is much higher since you have only one bullet. The feeling of walking up to two enemies who’ve spent their single bullet and have resorted to a knife fight, pulling out your gun and capping them both is tough to beat. Same goes for a last-ditch dive effort that leads to you stabbing your opponent’s ankle. I call it the “action dive.”

Gun Game

Meaning: There are 20 levels to work your way through. For each kill you get, your weapon changes and you move to the next level. You start with pistols, work your way to submachine guns and assault rifles, and finish with rocket launchers, the crossbow and finally, the ballistic knife (it’s a bell curve that starts hard and ends hard). If you get stabbed, you move back a level.

[sniplet postads]

Things we like: The strategy and skill required to win a Gun Game match is unprecedented in Call of Duty. You have to be able to use virtually any weapon in the game, and use it well if you want to win. Gun Game will be the mode that’s the truest test of someone’s pure FPS skill.

Meaning: Everyone starts the game with the same random weapon and that weapon rotates every 45 seconds. You could get double automatic pistols, or you could get a ballistic knife. But hey, at least everyone is in the same boat. Perks are handed out as you collect kills.

Things we like: Yet another test of someone’s true skill, Sharpshooter forces you outside of your comfort zone as you have to contend with a randomly generated armament. That would be fine, but the fact that you get some pretty impressive perks (and pro perks) as your kills begin to stack up could give you the upper-hand needed to break into the coveted top three.

Sticks and Stones

Meaning: Sticks and Stones is the game everyone starts with an crossbow and an tomahawk. In this type of wager match you will have infinite life’s up to an certain amount of match time limit. And if you throw an tomahawk on a player he instantly becomes bankrupt.

[sniplet postads]

Things we like: If you are like me that loves to humiliate players online then you will love this game type. There is no satisfaction that to beat your fellow players with their own money.

So this our preview of some of the multiplayer modes stay tuned with alvistor.com to get up-to-date info on black ops. We will be covering some new info everyday until the launch of Call Of Duty: Black Ops.

New PSP Phone?

Back in August, tech blog Engadget first reported that a PSP Phone was in the works, and now it seems they have proof. Now, they posted pictures of the alleged PlayStation Phone, which depict a slider smartphone with a PSPgo-style control panel, complete with a d-pad, shoulder buttons, and PlayStation action buttons.

[sniplet postads]

As was initially reported, the device is branded by Sony Ericsson, the company’s mobile brand, and features what appears to be a custom build of Google’s Android platform, which will allegedly support a new Sony Marketplace for downloadable PlayStation titles, including those from major franchises like God of War.

Engadget says the device pictured features a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 mobile processor, 512MBs of RAM, 1GBs of ROM, a 3.7 to 4.1-inch touchscreen display, a built-in camera with LED flash, and the aforementioned slider panel.

Most notably, however, is that the unit lacks an analog stick, and instead sports an odd looking center panel that Engadget claims is a touch-sensitive surface. It is also lacking any official PlayStation branding, though that could be due to it being a prototype variation.

Little else is known about the device at this point, but if it proves legitimate, we may see the PlayStation Phone officially announced later this year or in early 2011.
