All New nVidia’s Dual-GPU Card Has An Release Date

The new graphics card from nVidia will be the dual-GPU GTX 590. It consist of dual GPU processors of the GTX 580. This card from nVidia comes in for the competition for AMD’s HD 6990 Antilles. Which is currently the fastest card on the planet ( period ). Will the GTX590 be faster than the HD 6990? Well we must have to wait until March 22.

And for the releasing date, it releases as the same date when one of the most anticipated game of this year releasing. Yes, it is Crysis 2. Crysis 2 is releasing on the same date when GTX 590 is releasing. We might even expect an Crysis 2 special edition bundle for the GTX 590. If that was the case many gamers would be happy. But I wish they give that offer on GTX 580 & 570 as well.

AMD has just come up with their Antilles type of dual-gpu cards. This is the first dual-gpu card to debut in the 6 series cards. This card have an neat design as of like in previous 6 series of cards. This also has something new to the AMD camp vapour chamber cooling system similar to that of nVidia counterparts. This card also has the fan in the center of the card, which I think is way more effective that keeping it in the sides. Chinese-language site Zol.com claims to have got its hands on benchmarks for the AMD Radeon HD 6970, although it’s not revealing where the figures have come from.The site is reporting, however, that the Cayman XT-based AMD Radeon HD 6970, believed to be the 1GB GDDR5 model, has performed admirably in the 3DMark Vantage test suite, scoring 23,499 3DMarks in Performance mode. In the Unigine Heaven benchmark, the card managed 36.6fps at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 with 4x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering.
Those scores, which represent a pre-release version of the card with unoptimised drivers, are certainly a boost over the company’s Radeon HD 5870 1GB card, which managed 19,337 3DMarks and 17.3 fps in Unigine Heaven at the same settings.Impressively, the figures also beat Nvidia’s current high-end card, the GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB, quite considerably: at the same settings, the GTX 480 1.5GB scored 21,106 in 3DMark Vantage and 29.5fps in Unigine Heaven.Further details of the as-yet unannounced card aren’t available, but it is rumoured to feature a TDP of 255W or higher, and require a six- and an eight-pin power supply connection.

There is an rumor surfaced that an new nVidia GTX 580 successor to the GTX 480 would come in the very near future that means in December 2010. The rumor actually surface the world of internet many months ago. But it became clear that we could really expect an nVidia this December when it was listed in their official website. Its been 11 months since a video card came from the red camp (AMD). The last card which was released is the HD 5970 . In this span of time there has been many changes in red camp, eg; The name ATI  has been removed by AMD and it has been renamed as AMD Radeon Graphics. And the naming scheme also been revamped a little. Is this a good move? Only time has to say.

AMD in the branding of ATI has dominated the DX-11 lineup for a while now until the new nVidia cards came into play. Which actually took a lot of space in DX-11 category which was fully shared by AMD in the name of ATI. This due to the lack of tessellation performance drop in the ATI cards, this was a big blow for AMD. So they are now launching the new 6000 series of graphic cards as soon as possible. Instead of launching the top end performance card first they are launching the mid-level performance cards first. This is were the naming change comes in, In previous generation AMD cards the top-level cards were the 5800 series and the mid level performance cards as 5700 series. But now its has been changed that 6800 series as the mid-level cards and 6900 or some other name which AMD only knows will be the high-end performance oriented cards. The  6800 series is the barts xt and barts pro chipsets the higher version will be the caymen xt and the caymen pro.

The appearance of the card has been slightly modified. The front end of the card has the pointed edge towards it unlike the previous cards batmobile look has been disbanded. The rear exhaust has been reduced half of the size and the front intake is absent on this card as of the previous generation. And the output ports have also been increased.
